RESEARCH-BASED. FUTURE-FOCUSED. COMMUNITY-engagED.

We are committed to an academic program and school culture that inspires and educates students to become highly capable, healthy, wise, and engaged citizens who are prepared for college and to take on the world’s great challenges.

Our students engage in work that matters—work that is important to the student and has a positive impact beyond the walls of the school. We believe schools should awaken students’ curiosity, expand their view of the world, help them develop the skills and habits for success, and empower them to make a difference in their local, regional, and global communities.

This is Watershed School.

I had the most amazing experience at Watershed. I felt so well prepared for college and beyond and have found myself constantly referencing my experience, particularly in the context of learning in the real world. I am now a PhD candidate in biology, hoping to defend in the next year and I am forever grateful for the teachers, students and experiences I had at Watershed that led me to where I am. This place set me up for success in the future and set me down the path I am on.

Alumni SPOTLIGHT

Kevin Freymiller ‘13, was recently awarded the Eisenhower Fellowship for his doctoral research on EV transportation logistics at Carnegie Mellon. We talked with him about how real-world, community–centered, and expeditionary education materializes in the real world for Watershed graduates.

2024-2025 COURSES

Watershed’s expedition courses begin with big questions, big issues in the world, then we explore the content in a multidisciplinary way. These deep, focused courses are more akin to learning in college and life.
